Dropbox Online Backup Service

I’m obsessive when it comes to backups. My files are my electronic memory and I have several different types of backups at any one time. One of the most useful to me is my free online backup service called Dropbox.

Dropbox gives you 2 gig of storage space free, with the option to earn up to 3 gig more by inviting your friends, for all your important files. Dropbox also has excellent paid options for those of you who need more space and features. Two gig is a lot of space and five gig is even more. I’ve been using Dropbox for about 7 months now and have only used about 1/3 of my 2 gig of space and have all my important must keep files safe and sound at a remote location should a disaster happen.

Dropbox is very easy to use, installing to your documents folder and once installed sits in your notification area waiting for you to drop files in it. Once you do that, it automatically syncs them with your Dropbox account online. Should you ever need to you can install Dropbox on another computer and it will download an exact copy of the files you have in your other computers Dropbox. The system is a great way to keep files synced across multiple computers as well.

Dropbox combined with a folder sync program such as SyncBack Pro this is a perfect solution for automatically backing up your most important files using a cloud or remote solution. Dropbox works well for personal files as well as corporate files because they have larger remote storage amounts for reasonable monthly and yearly fees.

We here at Augmented Living support both of these products at either the free or paid levels. We use both of them and feel that our data is secure and in good hands with such excellent companies.
