Block Skype Ads

I have used Skype for years and thoroughly enjoyed the software. Skype allows me to talk and IM my friends and is one of the highest quality programs available that just work every time you use it. Recently I started having a problem with Skype that is forcing me to consider alternatives.

Current Problems With Skype

1. Skype crashes when my Windows 7 computer comes out of sleep mode. This does not happen all the time but I would estimate that the error occurs 75% of the time I rouse my PC out of sleep.

2. Intrusive ads have started appearing over IM messages that you have to click to get rid of to read your messages.

3. File transfer speed has decreased in the latest version of Skype.

Skype’s fire transfer system has never been robust but this version seems especially slow given the power of the PC its being run on. Skype is a highly supported program and should be working perfectly with Windows 7 considering the opportunity developers had to make their programs compatible during the developmental window.

The ads are getting on my nerves right now. Skype has always had nonintrusive ads that did not interfere with my work process and I never noticed them other than when I was looking for a special on Skype credit or something. These new ads are intrusive and disrupt my workflow by taking over a part of my desktop outside the Skype window, that is unacceptable to me, and I would be many others.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to block these ads at the system level, please contact me through my blog. Comments are disabled for now due to the many projects I am working on.
